Realtor Resources for Seniors

The Realtor Resources for Seniors Committee is an independent group of real estate professionals who work with older adults. Our mission is twofold: (1) to educate ourselves and our Realtor® colleagues in the real estate community about the needs of our older clients and the resources that are available to help them and their families; and (2) to provide resources directly to seniors in our community and their families enabling them to make more informed decisions around the issues they face at this stage of their lives.Our committee was formed around 2010 in affiliation with the Berkeley Association of Realtors, now the Oakland Berkeley Association. In 2022 we formed an independent committee to have more control over our activities. Our members are licensed real estate professionals who are affiliated with various local real estate brokerages, but who share a common and sincere interest in serving the senior community. Our committee also includes licensed mortgage brokers familiar with the unique financing needs of seniors.Other realtors come to us frequently to find out how to help their older clients. Their questions often include the following:

How do I help my client find a retirement community?
What housing options are available for older people in the Bay Area?
Who can help my client with downsizing to a smaller home?
Which are the best estate sale companies?
What can I do to help my clients who want to age in place?
What are the tax implications for my clients to sell their homes?

Senior Resources Fair

Every year we present a Senior Resources Fair where the community can meet face-to-face with a variety of vendors specializing in a wide array of services for the senior community. During the fair, we also offer presentations on various topics of importance to the senior community and their families. Our most recent Fair was well attended by the public as well as by service providers. Over 50 vendors participated. They hosted tables to share information about their organizations. The vendors included senior move managers, senior placement specialists, mobility companies, geriatric care agencies, home care agencies, estate sale companies, retirement communities, and others who specialize in helping older adults.Stay tuned for announcements regarding our next Senior Resources Fair. Is the Fair exclusively for seniors?

Absolutely not. The fair caters to a wide audience, including seniors, their dedicated caregivers, and families. Seniors will discover the fair as an ideal destination to investigate and embrace opportunities for active living while contemplating and embarking on future life experiences and transitions.

Is the Fair free to attend?

Absolutely! The event is completely free - free admission and free parking, too.
